Do Not Fall for Spoofing Scams
Spoofing scams are becoming increasingly common. Fraudsters have been impersonating BMI FCU in efforts to steal your sensitive data.
Fraudsters will make it appear as though you are receiving a call, text, or email from BMI FCU. Remember, BMI FCU will NEVER call, email, or text you directly and ask for your sensitive personal information or sensitive financial information.
Here's what you should NEVER do if you encounter a potential spoofing scam:
- NEVER share personal or account information over the phone, email, or text—especially if you did not initiate contact. Scammers often create a sense of urgency, claiming your account is compromised or requires immediate action.
- NEVER give out Online Banking credentials or one-time passcodes (2-FA), as this would allow scammers to login to your account.
- NEVER completely trust caller ID. Spoofing technology allows fraudsters to manipulate this information to appear legitimate.
If you suspect a call, email, or text is fraudulent, hang up immediately or ignore the message. Verify any claims by contacting us directly at 614.707.4000.
