Anyone can become a victim of identity theft or financial fraud. That is why our Identity Theft Resource Center has everything you need to prevent, maintain, or remedy any threats to your financial security.
Even if you are prepared, identity theft can still occur. If you suspect you have been a victim of identity theft or fraud, you can still take immediate action to minimize the damage to your personal funds and financial accounts.
Report Identity Theft or Fraud
- Call the companies where you know or suspect the fraud may have occurred.
- Place a fraud alert on your credit report and get copies of your report.

- Report identity theft to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
- File a report with your local police department.
Depending on the severity of your claim, it might be advisable to close any accounts opened in your name, or reporting fraudulent charges to our credit card company.
We recommend you visit www.IdentityTheft.gov and follow the federal action plan to help you with your claim.
